I've been doing some research on preserving and had decided to look into a Fowlers Vacola Preserving Kit.(for those overseas - it's an Australian system invented by - yes you guessed it - Mr. Fowler :). it works on a vacuum system. I'm sure you have similar in your country) Anyway I saw an ad on the net, rang the lady and went to check it out, truly not expecting much. Well long story short - the kit was the newer one, she'd only used it 3 times and along with the kit came 106 bottles of various sizes some used , most brand new (all Fowler Vacola brand bottles) extra lids, extra rubber rings, extra clamps, the book plus a vintage Fowlers owners manual. All for $125!!!!! Cannot believe it!!! I think I may have to extend the gardens now. lol.
I popped them on a table on the deck to sort through them. Below is a box of 26 size 20 and there's another box of 12 size 36; but they're new and nicely wrapped so they can stay where they are. :)
I'm not going to keep them all though; I'll sort through and decide what will work for us and get rid of the others. There's some lovely green ones as well as some tiny ones about the size of baby food jars. I'd never seen that size before and evidently they don't make them anymore. I'll be hanging onto those though, they're so cute.
All in all a very profitable afternoon. :)
